Sigrid Sackman Memorial Scholarship Fund for Off-Road Motorcycle Training
Sigrid Sackman was a GS Giant, RA member, MOA member, and brought her RT (with and without her little trailer) and her larger than life smile and terrific attitude to many many events, campouts and rallies.
She rode on dirt and pavement and was a huge advocate for training. One of her last rides was in August 2016 when she rode from Ohio to Pike’s Peak and then to the Rockmor rally and back with her best buddy, Sibley Poland.
You’d have never known, if you met her then, how sick she really was. Sadly, Sigrid lost her 20 year battle with ovarian cancer in late 2016. She is survived by her husband, Marty. Their love story was one for the ages.
After Sigrid left us, a group of GS Giants decided to establish a Scholarship Fund in Sigrid’s name to provide off-road motorcycle training to those who have an interest and are new to riding off-road.
Each year, the GS Giants Board of Directors will solicit applications for scholarship recipients and award one or more scholarships to the off-road training facility of the recipient’s choice. Sigrid would be happy to know that she is helping men and women to get more comfortable in the dirt! Ride on, dear sister!
An application form for the scholarship will soon be available for those interested.
